Regroup and Re-energize
We had a good if small meeting yesterday, with Enrique, Emma and me. Emma read the latest chapter of her novel which was great and we talked about how to make the meetings more effective. One thing is that since three of our group won't be available in May, that we move the next meeting to the 2nd Sunday in June, the 8th @ 1:30pm.
Also a few fun initiatives ~ we decided to introduce a theme for our next meeting, hoping it will inspire you to write (fiction, non-fiction, poetry) on the topic: "ON WRITING ~ the journey of becoming a writer". Enrique recommended a novel about the writer's journey, by VS Naipaul, "The Enigma of Arrival".
Everyone should bring one writing exercise to share, so we always have something to work on.
Also started talking about holding the next Los Portenos reading in September, on the theme of REVOLUTION.
Que vive!

Errato!
Have no idea if that's a word, but the point is there's an error (maybe two) and it's mine.
The date of the upcoming Los Nortenos reading is
February 16th ~ truly a Saturday!
Thank you for your patience...

Welcome to the New Year!
I finally figured out how to post to the Los Portenos blog, happily in time to announce our first meeting of 2008, Sunday January 13th at 1:30pm at El Centro Milagro.
A brief update, Los Portenos presented a terrific reading for Dia de los Muertos at El Centro Milagro on Saturday Nov 3rd (2007) that featured writers Joann Farias, Cindy Kirshner, Emma Oliver, Veronica Swehla, Olga Sanchez, Frank Delgado, Enrique Patlan and the work of Catalina Cantu as read by Danel Malan.
We're looking forward to the next, though we don't know when that will be, and so ~ next meeting!
